Musician Bob Tedde leads this San Diego-based Steely Dan cover band, known
for its accurate interpretations of the jazzy, classic rock duo of Walter Becker
and Donald Fagen.
Union-Tribune music columnist George Varga had this to say about the
Steely Damned:
Tedde, who is also the leader of the classic-rock cover band Rockola, founded
the Steely Damned in 1993. Not coincidentally, the Steely Damned performed its
first gig the same day Steely Dan's Walter Becker and Donald Fagen officially
reunited after a 13-year hiatus.
The Steely Damned's note-perfect renditions of Steely Dan's music has
garnered national attention, including from Becker and Fagen.
"They played a concert we heard that was Webcast, and it sounded pretty
good," Becker said. "I think what they're doing is great."
