For the third consecutive year, community-based agencies, school officials and local elected officials will join event founders PAZZAZ and the Center for Parent Involvement (CPIE) to coordinate a back-to-school conference, walk and festival at the end of this summer.
City of San Diego 4th District Councilmember Tony Young and San Diego City Schools District E Board Member Sheila Jackson, will serve as this year's honorary co-chairs. The event will feature a conference for parents and students in grades K-12 at the new Lincoln High School on the morning of August 25th followed by a walk for education that will culminate in a family festival at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA.
This event is designed to inspire parents and students for a more productive and successful school year. At the conference, parents will be given information on how to best prepare their child to absorb information in an instructional setting. It will provide parents and students with tools to help cultivate relationships with school faculty and encourage positive interactions. And it will challenge students to meet and or exceed academic standards and to achieve their highest potential.
During the festival all students will receive free back-to-school bags with school supplies ranging from pencils and paper to calculators and dictionaries.
